My name is Sally McAllister and I joined White House Guardianships as a Local Guardian in December 2020. I have four children aged between 29 and 22, two live in Cambodia, one in Wymondham and one in Norwich.
I have hosted children from all over the world for the past 15 years, the last 10 years been a host family for White House Guardianship. As a family we have enjoyed sharing our home with all the young people, always trying to ensure they feel happy and safe.
About the Area
Diss is a beautiful market town in South Norfolk. There are many houses that were built in the 14th Century. There are a number of shops and a market on Fridays. There is a train station that has direct trains to London and Norwich. There are lots of walks and countryside in the surrounding area plus lots of attractions such as Banham Zoo, Bressingham Steam Museum and the coast only an hour away.
Norfolk and Suffolk are beautiful places to live and a popular destination for people to visit. I live in a small village which is about 20 minutes from Norwich which is a wonderful city. It has a cathedral and castle as well as many shops and restaurants and one of the largest and oldest open air markets. The University of East Anglia is based here and there is a thriving student population adding to the vibrancy of the city.
There are many lovely coastal towns to explore such as Southwold, Aldeburgh, Wells-Next-The-Sea and Cromer and Sheringham. The coast is also a fantastic place to enjoy fish and chips!
The Norfolk Broads cover 125 miles of waterways set in beautiful countryside studded with picturesque towns and villages and are another lovely place to visit.
