Student Safety
Safeguarding Our Students
The safety of our students is paramount. We have been caring for international students for over 25 years. Our network of local guardians and host families is carefully screened and monitored. We are AEGIS accredited and place student welfare at the very heart of our business. When sending your child to school in the UK, you want them to be safe and well cared for at all times. We’re here to help.
The safety of our students is paramount. Aegis Guardianship.
We are committed to safeguarding student welfare and undertake enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks on all who work with us and we expect all staff to share this commitment.
We are a member of the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students (AEGIS). AEGIS is an independent charity that inspects and accredits guardianship organisations in the UK that are able to reach and maintain a very high level of care.

WHG Staff and Local Guardians
The safety of students is paramount. All WHG staff and Local Guardians undergo regular security screening checks known as a DBS (police check).

Host Families
All our host families are recruited by WHG and not via an agency. Each member of a host family, over 16 years old, has been DBS checked and visited by their LG before they are accepted as a WHG family. Annual reviews of the family and home are also carried out to ensure a pleasant and safe environment is being provided. We also require a professional Gas Safety check on the house every year and a certificate of this check must be submitted before a family can host WHG students.
Why choose an AEGIS accredited guardianship provider?
Working with a guardianship provider who is accredited by AEGIS provides many key benefits. Amongst these, it assures boarding schools that they are working with educational guardians who have the highest standards in safeguarding children. Additionally, the Gold Standard Accreditation is the highest accolade a guardianship organisation can receive and requires regular re-inspection every three years. WHG is proud to have achieved the Gold Standard AEGIS accreditation. Moreover, AEGIS also has a role in promoting the welfare of international students and maintaining high standards that measure up to those set by schools themselves. These standards provide students with the foundation, protection and support required to excel in their academic pursuits.
