Stour

Hi, my name is Kim Baker, I became the local guardian for White House Guardianships for the Stour region in March 2015 after working for over 30 years as a CAD technician/draughtswoman. My area covers Bournemouth, Poole, Wimborne and Southampton.

I have two sons; both are married and have families of their own. I have 3 grandchildren in total. 2 beautiful granddaughters and 1 lovely grandson. We are a very close family and do many things together.

As a family we have hosted students for over 30 years from all over the world, we found it rewarding and educational. We believe that a student should experience English life to the full. No English family is the same.

We have a varied hobbies and interests. As a family we like anything to do with cars, we used to do car racing but now we just have classic cars, which we like to show when the weather is fine. We have a small motorhome and like to go away at weekends wherever possible.

My husband supports our local football team, Bournemouth and goes to games regularly. Myself, I am a netball player and an umpire.

Working with International students is very interesting to see how they grow in personality and confidence, from teenagers to young adults. It has its challenges, but this is what makes the job so rewarding. Some great relationships are formed.

We live in a beautiful part of the country with golden sandy beaches in Bournemouth and Sandbanks, the Jurassic coastline to one side and the lovely isles of Purbeck to the other.

We are close to Ringwood town, the new forest and have easy access to Southampton, Poole, Portsmouth and Salisbury, also the main link to the southwest.

Southampton and Portsmouth are renown for shopping and their harbours. A must go to when in the UK.
