Prior to being a host mum, I worked in a local primary school as a Teaching Assistant and the library lady and I like to make a difference to childrens lives and education whilst having fun and promoting a love of learning. I enjoy walking our dog in unexplored areas of Kent, making fresh, homecooked meals using our own grown vegetables and spending as much time as I can outdoors with my family.
About the Area
I live in Ashford, Kent, which is known as the Garden of England because of the countys successful agricultural production, particularly fruit and hops. On a clear day, you can see France across the channel from Dover Castle and there are many other beautiful, historical places to visit including Canterbury Cathedral, Ramsgate Tunnels that sheltered people from air raids, and Dungeness Old Lighthouse. From hills overlooking quiet country villages and fields, beaches with seaside towns, forests and woodland to bustling towns and a cathedral city, Kent has it all. There are amazing areas to visit and explore with cycle routes, regular buses, a local and national railway network, ferry ports and the Channel Tunnel making travel easy.
